A native of Teaneck, New Jersey, Nathaniel "Nat" Anderson attended public schools and began his collegiate journey at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. In 1988, he transferred to Farleigh Dickinson University, and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
In August 2001, Anderson relocated his family to Willingboro, New Jersey, where he became active in the community through recreational sports programs. In 2009 he served as president of Willingboro's Little League, while further expanding his community outreach.
Nathaniel Anderson began his political journey in 2006 by winning the seat of Vice President of the Willingboro Democratic Club. In 2009, he was elected for the Township Council. In 2012 he was elected as President of the Willingboro Democratic Club. Upon successful completion of his first term, he was re-elected in 2013 to serve a second term.
In 2013, he won the seat for Municipal Chairman of the Willingboro Democratic Committee.
January 1, 2015, Nat won the trust and support of his colleagues on the Willingboro Township Council and was unanimously voted in to serve as Deputy Mayor. On January 1, 2016 he became Mayor.
Anderson is a Managing Partner and Chief Operations Officer for Nothing But Green Living Enterprises, LLC. He is also a member of Alpha Baptist Church in Willingboro; a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.; and a Prince Hall Mason.
He has won many community awards: Community Service Award, 2015 South Jersey Man of the Year Award, 2015 De Hugo Consistory #2 Citizen Award, 2014 NAACP Community Service Award, and most recently, the distinguished National Peace Medal and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for Outstanding Civic Engagement.
He is the very proud father of three wonderful children: Dominique 28 of Glassboro, Maurice 27 of Mount Laurel (Iraq Vet), and Brandon 18 of Willingboro.
